Humanitarian Principles
π€ Humanitarian Principles
The Nepal Blue Cross Humanitarian Foundation (NBCHF) conducts all its humanitarian activities in accordance with internationally recognized humanitarian values and ethical standards. These principles guide every programme, partnership, decision, and humanitarian intervention undertaken by the Foundation.
β€οΈ Humanity
We place human dignity, life, and well-being at the centre of all our humanitarian actions. Our primary purpose is to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it exists and to serve vulnerable people with compassion, respect, and dignity.
βοΈ Neutrality
NBCHF remains politically neutral in the delivery of humanitarian assistance and does not take sides in political, ideological, ethnic, or religious matters. Humanitarian assistance is provided solely on the basis of need.
π Impartiality
Humanitarian assistance is provided without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, language, political opinion, disability, social status, or any other characteristic. Priority is given according to the urgency of humanitarian need.
ποΈ Independence
NBCHF maintains its institutional independence in governance, decision-making, financial management, and humanitarian operations, ensuring that humanitarian objectives remain the Foundation's highest priority.
π Voluntary Service
Our humanitarian work is inspired by volunteerism, community participation, and a shared commitment to serving humanity without seeking personal gain.
π€ Cooperation
We promote constructive cooperation with communities, government institutions, healthcare providers, humanitarian organizations, development partners, and civil society to maximize humanitarian impact and strengthen community resilience.
π Transparency
NBCHF is committed to openness, ethical conduct, responsible financial management, and transparent decision-making in all humanitarian activities.
π Accountability
We are accountable to the people and communities we serve, our partners, donors, volunteers, supporters, and all stakeholders through responsible governance, regular reporting, and continuous improvement.
π± Sustainability
We design humanitarian programmes that create long-term social impact, strengthen local capacity, protect the environment, and contribute to sustainable community development.
π Respect for Human Dignity
Every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, equality, and compassion. NBCHF promotes inclusion, protects vulnerable populations, and supports equal access to humanitarian assistance and essential services.
π€² Humanitarian Cooperation
NBCHF works in humanitarian cooperation with the Nepal Blue Cross Society (NBCS) and the International Federation of Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Societies (IFBC) to strengthen humanitarian action, volunteer development, disaster preparedness, healthcare initiatives, and community resilience. Such cooperation is based on shared humanitarian objectives while each organization maintains its own independent legal identity, governance, financial management, and operational responsibilities.
π Our Commitment
These Humanitarian Principles serve as the ethical foundation of every programme, partnership, volunteer initiative, and humanitarian response undertaken by the Nepal Blue Cross Humanitarian Foundation (NBCHF). Through these principles, we strive to build trust, strengthen communities, and contribute to a healthier, safer, and more resilient Nepal.
